Dockable turns screen recordings into living team knowledge. You record yourself doing the work once — narrating as you go — and Dockable transcribes it, writes the documentation, and makes every word searchable, so the next person can find the answer without asking you.

What happens to a recording
Every video that lands in Dockable goes through the same pipeline:
- Transcription. If the recording has narration, Dockable transcribes it word-for-word, with timestamps.
- Understanding. AI writes a summary, chapters, and tags, and indexes the content for search.
- Knowledge. From there you can generate step-by-step documents, flashcards, quizzes, and slide decks — or just ask questions and get answers pulled from what was said.
Note: The magic depends on narration. A silent screen recording is still watchable and shareable, but there's nothing for the AI to transcribe — so documents, search answers, and study tools need you to talk while you record.

- Library — every video in your workspace, with thumbnails, summaries, and processing status.
- Dockable Recorder — the macOS menu-bar app for capturing your screen, with optional mic narration and a camera bubble. Currently in private beta.
- Search & Ask — ask a question in plain English; Ask AI answers from your team's actual recordings, with sources.
- Video editor — trim, cut, remove filler words and silences, and export a clean final video.
- Collections — folders for organizing videos by topic, team, or project.
- Doc Requests — ask a teammate to record something; when they do, the request is fulfilled automatically.
Where your content lives
Everything belongs to a workspace — your team's shared container for videos, documents, collections, and members. If you work solo, you have one workspace and can mostly ignore the concept. On a team, the workspace is what you share, and roles control who can edit versus view. See Workspaces and roles.
FAQ
Do I have to use the Dockable Recorder?
No. Dockable works with videos from anywhere — upload a file, import from Loom or YouTube, bring in Zoom meeting recordings, or upload from your phone. The recorder is just the fastest path from "let me show you" to finished doc.
How long does processing take?
Processing starts the moment a video is uploaded. Most videos are ready in a minute or two; longer recordings take longer to transcribe.
What file formats can I upload?
Common video formats work — MP4, WebM, MOV, and friends. One exception worth knowing: the Eye Contact AI enhancement specifically requires MP4 (a limitation of the underlying AI service).
