Generating documents
This is Dockable's core trick: do the work once on camera, narrating as you go, and get real written documentation without writing it.
Generate a document from one video
- Open the video and click Generate Document in the Next steps card.
- Pick a document type — meeting notes, a step-by-step summary, and other formats depending on the content.
- Generation runs in the background, usually under a minute.
- The finished document appears in the video's Generated Documents section (and in Process Docs), where you can read, edit, and share it.
Documents are grounded in the transcript — the AI organizes and rewrites what you said into structure, but the substance comes from your narration.
Combine multiple videos
Process Docs (in the sidebar) can merge several recordings into a single document — for example, three separate walkthroughs of one workflow becoming a single process doc. Pick the videos, choose the format, and generate.
Tip: Narrate with the document in mind. Saying "step one — open the billing dashboard" while doing it gives the generator clean structure to work with.
Regenerating
A generated document isn't locked to the video. If you re-record or edit the source, generate a fresh document; older ones remain until you delete them.
FAQ
The Generate button is disabled on my video. Why?
Documents are built from the transcript, so silent (no-narration) recordings can't generate them. The video page shows a banner explaining this when it applies.
Can I edit the generated document?
Yes — generated documents are a starting point, not a final word. Open one and edit it like any document.
