Removing fillers and silences
Most raw recordings are 10-30% filler — "um", "uh", "you know", and long pauses while you find the next click. The editor removes both categories automatically, and shows you everything before it's cut.
Remove filler words
The Remove Fillers button (below the editor footer) shows a count badge of filler words detected in the transcript — "um", "uh", "like", "you know", and similar. Click it and each one becomes a cut, marked yellow on the timeline.
Filler detection is transcript-based, so it only exists on narrated recordings.
Remove silences
The Remove Silences button works the same way for dead air: any gap in speech longer than about a second and a half is detected, counted on the badge, and cut in one click — marked gray on the timeline. A small buffer is kept on each side of every cut so the result doesn't feel abruptly chopped.
Review before you cut
Detected silences appear on the timeline as thin blue strips along the bottom edge — before you've removed anything. Click any strip to jump the playhead there and listen. If a pause is meaningful (a demo loading, a deliberate beat), just leave it: silence removal only cuts what's detected at the moment you click the button, and every cut is individually undoable afterward.
Tip: Run Remove Fillers first, listen to a spot-check, then Remove Silences. Two clicks typically shrink a raw walkthrough by a quarter without touching the content.
Undoing
Both actions are ordinary cuts: Cmd+Z steps them back, and clicking a cut segment in the transcript offers Restore. Reset clears everything.
FAQ
Will it cut a pause where something is loading on screen?
If the pause is silent and longer than the threshold, it will be detected — that's exactly what the blue preview strips are for. Click through them first, and skip the button if a long silent moment matters; you can cut the rest manually around it.
Why is the fillers count zero on my video?
Either the recording is genuinely clean, or the video has no transcript (silent recording) — the counters only see what's in the transcript.
